KP govt committed to solving residential problems of employees

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that the provincial government has launched ‘Khapal Kor Model Housing Scheme’ through bank home finance to settle the residential problems of government employees and general masses.
Under this scheme, he said, low paid government servants and less income general public could also become owners of their own houses on marginal rates.
He was addressing a ceremony to allot plots for government employees in Jalozai Housing scheme, Nowshera, at Chief Minister’s House here, said a handout.
Advisor to CM on Housing Dr. Amjad Ali, Secretary Housing Syed Waqarul Hasan, SMBR Zafar Iqbal, DG Housing, BoK officers and other authorities of housing department were also present on the occasion.
The chief minister was informed that 8626 plots of five marla, seven marla, 10 marla and one kanal have been developed in the housing scheme out of which 3757 plots were allotted through first draw some four years back and 3793 plots were being allotted through the fresh draw.
Pervez Khattak said that providing basic facilities to the people, including accommodation, was the agenda of his government.
He said that his government was considering developing well-equipped housing schemes to address the residential needs of the people especially the low income government employees.
The Chief Minister said that there was shortage of 50,000 houses in our province that needed huge investment.
He said that public sector could not cater this deficiency alone, therefore, his government was encouraging the private sector in developing housing infrastructure in the province.
Pervez Khattak said that provincial government was launching two mega housing schemes of Peshawar Model Town and CPEC city through public private partnership (PPP) to bridge the gap of housing deficiency that would cost Rs950 billion.
