Izharullah stars as KRL edge SNGPL

KARACHI: Izharullah’s solitary goal enabled former national champions Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) to beat Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) 1-0 in their Group B match of First Naya Nazimabad Departmental Football tournament here at the KMC Stadium on Wednesday.
Izhar hit the winner in the 61st minute. KRL manager Ayaz Butt said he had fielded a young side.“We had fielded a very young side and the opposition was also not weak,” Butt told ‘The News’ after the match.
“We had also scored the second goal but it was disallowed by the linesman. So leave it. I would tell you that SNGPL were a strong side in our group and we beat them,” Butt added.On Thursday (today), Sindh Police will face SSGC in Group A outing. Sindh Police lost their first game against Pakistan Steel.
SSGC are a strong side, also having some national players. And the most weighty aspect of the team is that it is being coached by former Pakistan coach and FIFA instructor Tariq Lutfi.
