NAB arrests ETPB’s former secretary

LAHORE: NAB Lahore on Tuesday arrested former secretary of Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) in the ongoing investigation into embezzlement of Rs985 million. According to a NAB spokesman, the arrested accused was identified as Ameer Khan Wazir who remained ETPB secretary from 2008 till 2011. NAB Lahore is investigating four different corruption cases in ETPB whereas one of them is of Rs1.870 billion investment with a Forex company.
In this graft case, under the chairmanship of former chairman Asif Hashmi accused Ameer Khan Wazir managed to invest Rs985.5 million with a Forex company, whereas officials of the Forex company allegedly looted and scooted away with complete investment which had caused an enormous loss to national exchequer in alleged connivance with ETPB officials. NAB Lahore has so far arrested two officials of the Forex company Ch Muhammad Ali and Muhammad Imran and four ETPB officials, including a former secretary Junaid Ahmed and ETPB former Vice-Chairman Ch Riaz Ahmed.
