LAHORE:Tanzeem Islami (TI) ameer Hafiz Akif Saeed has stressed that those responsible for the misadventure of altering the Khatam-i-Nabuwat declaration had committed a crime against entire Muslim Ummah and deserved punishment.
"Some people changed the oath related to Khatm-e-Nabuwat into a simple declaration and repealed Clauses 7B and 7C from the Election Order 2002 to please their masters," he said in a statement on Monday.
Hafiz Akif Saeed said initially the government did not take back the amendment and restore things to their original shape until immense public pressure was built on the issue and a religious party started a sit-in at Islamabad. He said the demands for unmasking and punishing ministers and officials responsible for repealing the clauses of Khatm-e-Nabuwat oath and expelling them from cabinet were totally justified. He said governments had become used to the strange habit of turning a deaf ear to any justified demand from the public and only acted when they were forced to do so by the use of extreme steps. He demanded the government publish the Raja Zafarul Haq report on the incident.
