Importance of child nutrition underscored

Islamabad :The Shifa Foundation on Monday celebrated world Children’s Day with the Children of the BASERA Trust.
The event was held on the premises of the Shifa International Hospital here to highlight the importance of nutrition in a child’s development and building of disaster resilient communities for the protection of children from malnutrition, diseases and psychological trauma.
Besides taking part in a TV show, the children also enjoyed a magic show. “We are mobilising volunteers to build a child centered program to expand our reach to out of school children especially in slums and rural areas and to increase awareness of basic health issues," Faraz Hassan, executive director at the Shifa Foundation, said.
Members of the Board of Governors of the Shifa Foundation Dr. Habib-ur-Rehman and Taimoor Shah also participated in the program.
"We not only cater to the nutritional needs but also provide health care and medicine to the affected children and women in undeserved population. Our aim is to give equal treatment to those who cannot afford it," Taimoor Shah said.
The Shifa Foundation is a non-profit organisation working on transforming the future of under-served communities of Pakistan by promoting health, nutrition and sanitation.
