Second Adventure Marathon Race gets underway

PESHAWAR: The Second Adventure Marathon Race from Pir Sohawa-Islamabad to Khanpur Lake got underway on Saturday.
The youth, both male and female, departed their journey to Pir Sohawa-Islamabad from Tourism Information Centre located at the Peshawar Museum, said a press release. Sixty teams, each comprising of five members, have reached Pir Sohawa. They would start race from Pir Sohawa to Khanpur Lake at 8am today. The racers will have to cover a total of 23 kilometer distance via Tilhar, Tonia and Pomala villages, Kerwali Top and Najabpur area. It includes 13 kilometer trekking, nine kilometer cycling and one kilometer rafting. Deputy Secretary Sports, Tourism, Archaeology, Museums, Culture and Youth Affairs Department, Tauseef Khalid, will be chief guest at the concluding ceremony. The Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) and the Adventure Edge Club have jointly organised the marathon race with an aim to provide the youth an opportunity of adventure tourism and engage them in healthy activities. The organisers said that holding such events were aimed at reviving the tourist spots in the province and providing opportunity to the youth to exploit and explore their talent in the best possible way.
They said these amazing and alluring adventures were being hosted by an experienced and enthusiastic staff of Adventurer Edge Club and TCKP on an exceptional location combined with a fantastic scenic view.
