Lack of cleanliness

November 19, 2017
The serious problem of lack of cleanliness in our country is raised by many citizens. But the authorities have not taken any action to date. This is because the problem of heaps of garbage scattered on roads is generated by citizens of the country and couldn’t be resolved unless citizens stop littering public places. Throwing litter on roads is a common habit of almost all Pakistanis. Although the government has installed dustbins at various locations, including public places and busy roads, citizens do not throw litter in these bins. However, there are two sides of a coin. Although it is partly due to citizens’ ignorance and laziness that all public places are littered, the government too do not carry out cleaning tasks on a daily basis.
Many residents have complained about the government not emptying dustbins on time. In addition, public toilets in the country are in a bad condition. This is not a trait of a civilised and educated society. In this regard, it is the duty of education institutions and mass media to create awareness among people. Through collective efforts of citizens and the government, this problem can be solved at the earliest.
