Youth dies, two hospitalised after taking toxic liquor

LAHORE :A youth died while his two friends landed in a hospital after consuming toxic liquor in the Kot Lakhpat area on Friday.


Police said that Joseph, Qamar Gull and Asif Bhatti had consumed poisonous liquor, as a result of which their condition went critical. They were rushed to hospital where doctors pronounced Joseph dead and two others critical. Police shifted the body to morgue.


FOUND DEAD: A 48-year-old man was found dead in the Tibbi City area on Friday.Police claimed that the man, yet to be identified, was an addict who might have died of excessive use of drugs. Police shifted the body to morgue.


SHOT DEAD: A 30-year-old man was shot dead by some unidentified persons in the Manga Mandi area on Friday.The victim was identified as Ali Haider of Manga Mandi. It was reported that the victim was on his way on a bike when some armed men intercepted him and shot him to death. Police removed the body to morgue.


underage drivers ticketed: City Traffic Police Lahore seized 698 vehicles and issued 2,907 fine tickets during ongoing campaign against underage drivers here in the city.Impounded vehicles will be returned after providing surety bonds by the parents for not giving vehicles to their children in future. On second time violation, action would be taken against parents. Whereas city traffic police has also taken action against 3,727 smoke-emitting vehicles, 10,990 improper number plates and 742 without number plates.


tribute: Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) director general has said that martyred Rescuers, who had sacrificed their lives to save humanity, were the real heroes of society and asset of the Service.He expressed these views while addressing a remembrance ceremony organised here at the Emergency Services Headquarters in reverence of a martyred Rescuer Noman Abbas, Hafizabad, who sacrificed his life in the line of duty a week ago. Twelve Rescuers, including Noman Abbas, have embraced martyrdom in the line of duty so far. The ceremony was attended by the parents of martyred Rescuer, DD (HR), Registrar Academy, Head of Law & Admin Wing and others.


The DG said that Noman Abbas had made his parents proud by sacrificing his life while responding to an emergency in Hafizabad. “I salute Noman Abbas, who is the real hero of this Service,” DG said, adding he was proud of his parents who nourished Noman and shaped his life to rescue the lives of others.


He also paid rich tribute to the parents of Noman Abbas and announced financial assistance as per government policy at the earliest. He further directed the District Emergency Officer Hafizabad to extend his full cooperation to the aggrieved family and never let it feel alone in future.


Muhammad Abbas, father of the martyred Rescuer Noman, said on this occasion that he was proud to be a father of a martyred son. “All of you Rescuers are my sons as I feel my Noman in your green uniform,” he said.


Spokesman for Rescue 1122 Jam Sajjad Hussain also presented a poem on heroism of Rescuers while paying homage to the martyred Rescuer Noman Abbas.


Later, the family of the martyred rescuer intermingled with Rescue officers and shared his tales of childhood and eagerness to join this lifesaving Service.
