Pemra asks channel to air apology

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) has directed Bol News to air apology in the same manner and magnitude on or before November 24, 2017, for airing derogatory remarks about Pakistani passport in one of its programmes dated September 5, 2017.
A fine of Rs100,000 (payable within three weeks) has also been imposed on the private channel for hurting millions of Pakistanis’ feelings, living inside the country and abroad with those anti-Pakistan remarks. The regulator has also provided a statement of apology to the TV channel to be aired in this regard. In case of non-compliance, the authority will move against the licensee under Section 30 of Pemra Ordinance 2002 (Amendment Act 2007).
