Assemblies may not complete term: Khattak

NOWSHERA: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Friday said that the assemblies may not complete its constitutional term as the federal government had become almost non-functional.
“Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbassi is performing duty alone while the rest of the federal ministers are busy protecting the ousted prime minister’s family,” the chief minister said while addressing public meetings at Amankot and Pashtoon Garhi here.
“Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s demand for early election is rational as the federal government has failed to deliver,” he added.
The chief minister said that his party’s demand for early election was aimed at blocking the unconstitutional move by a third force to usurp the government. However, he said his party would not support any unconstitutional move.
Pervez Khatttak said Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbassi should dissolve assemblies.
The chief minister said that the PTI demanded across-the-board accountability in the country. He said that Pakistan’s main problem was corrupt and inefficient system that needed to be changed.
Pervez Khattak added that he was not aware of any plan about installation of the technocrats government in Pakistan, adding that there was no place in the Constitution for such a government.
He said he had raised the issues of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including net hydel profit and gas surcharge, at the meeting of the Council of Common Interests.
The chief minister said that he had informed the prime minister that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had not been receiving its due right for the last eight months.
However, he disclosed that the prime minister had promised to release the entire withheld amount by December 10.
The chief minister said that the PTI was working for the welfare of the people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and enumerated the steps taken towards that end so far.
The public meetings were addressed by Member National Assembly Dr Imran Khattak, District Nazim Liaqat Khattak, Ishaq Khattak, Mauarifat Shah and Mustafa Kamal.
