MINGORA: Owners of private forest nurseries, watchmen and plantation workers have threatened to stage protest rally outside the office of the district forest officer if their payments were not cleared forthwith.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Abdul Manan, Abdul Malik, Muhammad Jamil and others said that the department had signed agreement with them two years ago for the “billion tree tsunami project.”
They said that they distributed millions of saplings to the farmers on the directives of the Forest Department.
They added that the department paid them a nominal amount that did not cover even their costs. They warned of launching protest campaign if their dues were not cleared within five days.
