Murder convict hanged in Jhang

JHANG: A murder convict was hanged in the District Jail here on Thursday.
After execution of convict Nasir Abbas, the jail administration handed over his body to his family members. Nasir Abbas of Shorkot had murdered Hafeezur Rehman over a minor dispute in 2001. An additional district and sessions judge had awarded him death sentence in 2002. The Lahore High Court and the Supreme Court of Pakistan had also rejected his appeals against the conviction.
Eye camp: Following the CM’s Healthy Punjab Vision, Deputy Commissioner Mudasar Riaz Malik on Thursday inaugurated a special medical camp in the DHQ Hospital eye department to conduct free operations and provide free lenses and medicines to the needy and deserving patients. Speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner said that the Punjab government had utilised extra funds to provide modern treatment and surgical facilities in the public hospitals. He said that the government had started giving extra relief to the deserving and needy eye patients, who could not purchase expensive eye lenses. DHQ Hospital MS Dr Habib Ahmed, Health CEO Dr Shahid Saleem, Dr Farooq Ahmed and others were also present.
