Commission to resolve issues of overseas Pakistanis, says Shahbaz

LAHORE: Former British Minister and Member House of Lords, Baroness Sayeeda Warsi called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, here Monday. Matters of mutual interest and measures for solution of the problems of overseas Pakistanis were discussed on the occasion.
Talking to Baroness Sayeeda Warsi, the chief minister said there were close friendly relations between Pakistan and Britain. He said Pakistan considered Britain as its real development partner and Britain was also a major trade partner of Pakistan and it had played a commendable role in the progress of Pakistan. He said the efforts of Baroness Sayeeda Warsi for cementing the relations between Pakistan and Britain were laudable.
Referring to the setting up of Overseas Pakistanis Commission, Shahbaz Sharif said Pakistanis living abroad were ambassadors of the country. He said Overseas Pakistanis Commission would play an important role in resolving problems of overseas Pakistanis, as the Punjab government had given a legal status to Overseas Pakistanis Commission and it would take effective measures to redress their grievances. He said the overseas Pakistanis were earning huge foreign exchange for their country through their hard work and playing a significant role in the strengthening of national economy. He said the overseas Pakistanis had improved the image of Pakistan and solution of their problems was the responsibility of the government.
Sayeeda Warsi congratulated Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif over the discovery and certification of precious mineral reserves in Chiniot-Rajwa and said he was rendering invaluable services for the welfare and betterment of people of the province. He said that setting up of Overseas Pakistanis Commission was an important step of Shahbaz Sharif which would help in resolving problem of the Pakistanis living abroad.
Baroness Sayeeda Warsi’s husband Iftikhar Azam, Commissioner, Overseas Pakistanis Commission, Afzaal Bhatti and President PML-N Britain Zubair Gul were also present on the occasion.
