Seminar to mark ‘International Tolerance Day’ held

Islamabad: National Council of Social Welfare (NCSW) organised one day seminar titled ‘International Tolerance Day and Our Social Responsibilities,’ on Thursday, says a press release.
Shahida Yasmin, senior patrolling officer, Motorway Police, was the chief guest. Representatives of government departments, civil society, NGOs, students, other stakeholders and large number of youth attended the seminar.
On the occasion, NCSW Chairman Dr. Nadeem Shafiq Malik said that it is a matter of great concern that growing intolerance is affecting our social system and destroying family life. Today, the solution of all our problems lies in the golden principle of unity. A United Nation is respected in the world. It is high time to promote a culture of peace, tolerance and social cohesion through such initiatives spread awareness among the people. It is a great virtue to accept one’s own fault.
Tolerance is not cowardness rather it is a principle of progress. The denial of aggressive behaviour can promote tolerance. Our great Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) taught the lesson of humanity, love and tolerance. It is our social responsibility to be united for the sake of development, progress and prosperity. The constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan grants equal rights and opportunities to all the citizens of Pakistan. The founder of Pakistan Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah envisioned a state that would be a home to all people, irrespective of their race, cast and creed.
The culture of tolerance will strengthen our society and state. Other speakers including Ms. Shahida Yasmin, Senior Patrolling Officer, Motorway Police, Sidra Ch. Renowned Psychologist and Social Activist, Qari Abdul Razzaq Shakir, Community Religious Leader and Tahir Mehmood Qureshi, Director, National Council of Social Welfare have said in their lectures that we have to change our social norms and behaviors in order to become a healthy society.
