Govt urged to include DMC schools in fee exemption policy
Municipal Commissioner East Akhtar Ali Shiekh on Thursday remonstrated with the Sindh government for exempting government schools’ students of all kinds of fee expenses, ignoring those enrolled at schools falling under the jurisdiction of District Municipal Corporations.
This year, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah announced that students of government schools will not have to pay any fees for enrolment, examination as well as monthly school tuition. He had declared that the expenses will be borne by the provincial government.
However, Shiekh submitted a summary to the schools education department with a letter demanding the CM to also exempt DMC schools’ of the expenses. Speaking to the media, Shiekh said DMCs schools are equal to the schools being operated by the Sindh government. “But the matter of exemption of fees is based on clear discrimination that should be addressed as per policy,” he said.
