Customs to form hockey team

KARACHI: Pakistan Customs is set to revive its hockey team which was disbanded in 1990s.
“There is a serious resolve in the Customs Directorate to raise a new team and a decision in this regard is expected very soon,” said Shafqat Ali Khan, Additional Collector Customs, in a statement on Wednesday.
He said that recruitment to raise a new team would start soon.
Customs discarded its hockey team in 1997 although it had won five national titles.
“Revival of Quaid-i-Azam Gold Cup is a first step towards raising a balanced Customs team that would take part in national level tournaments,” Shafqat said.
Meanwhile, the Customs authorities announced prizes for the teams participating in the ongoing event. The winners will get a Toyota Corolla car, while the runners-up will get Rs500,000.
Every player of the teams playing final will get a cell phone.
The man of the match in every game will get Rs10,000, while the man of the match in semi-finals and final shall get Rs50,000 each.
