World Teachers Day marked in Bara
BARA: The Governor’s Special Development Programme (GSDP) held a ceremony in connection with the World Teachers Day in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency.
Political Agent Khalid Mehmood was the chief guest at the event held in Government High School, Kohi Sher Haider Killay. Assistant political agent Bara Arshad Khan Afridi, political tehsildar Ghuncha Gul, officials of the education department, line officer Akbar Afridi, teachers, students and elders were present on the occasion.
Speaking at the event, the political agent said the day was aimed at mobilising support for teachers and to ensure that the educational and spiritual needs of future generations would continue to be met by committed teachers.
He said that militants had destroyed the infrastructure of education sector in the tribal belt during prolonged militancy and deprived younger generation of their basic rights.”We are rebuilding the education sector as many schools were constructed after restoration of the government writ and peace in Khyber Agency,” he said.
Later, the political agent distributed 40 awards to the best male and female teachers of the agency.
