ISLAMABAD: Holding Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) responsible for killing of security officials, renowned religious and social personalities, sectarian killings and incidents of Baldia Town factory fire, May 12 incident, fire at Boulton Market and other sabotage acts, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Tuesday demanded decisive action against the culprits.
“The tragic killing of over 250 workers at Baldia Town factory is not the only act of terror committed by MQM rather it was also behind several other incidents, sectarian and target killings and assassination of personalities like Hakeem Saeed and Syed Salahuddin,” said JI Central Secretary General Liaquat Baloch and Karachi ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman while addressing a press conference here.
JI Punjab ameer Mian Muhammad Aslam, Islamabad ameer Zubair Farooq Khan and Rawalpindi ameer Shamsur Rehman Swati were also present on the occasion.
The JI secretary general also demanded of the federal government to remove Sindh Governor, who has been protecting killers and Bhatta Mafia. “There is a need to find an impartial person to replace the Sindh governor who has been in office for the last 12 years,” he said.
He said that ‘Bhatta’ (extortion money) could not be demanded without involvement of top leadership of the party.
Baloch also advised Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to continue targeted operation against miscreants and target killers in Karachi and asked the PPP government not to succumb to any blackmailing of the MQM.
He recalled that during an All Parties Conference (APC) held in London which was also attended by Nawaz Sharif when he was in exile, PPP leadership and others, it was unanimously agreed that MQM was not a political party rather it was a mafia and they also decided not to seek any political cooperation from the MQM.
The JI leader while accusing the MQM of having fake mandate in Karachi and Hyderabad, demanded of the authorities concerned to cancel fake elections there.
He also asked the civil and military leadership to also withdraw support to MQM if there was any. “There was a need to take follow-up action to the JIT report,” he said adding that they would also initiate a movement to rid Karachi of miscreants.
He said that during the APC which decided National Action Plan (NAP) against terrorism, the MQM leaders attempted to seek commitment from the army chief General Raheel Sharif that no action would be taken against their party.
JI Karachi ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said it was MQM which played havoc with peace of economic hub, Karachi. “It is MQM which gave gifts of bullet-ridden dead bodies and started tradition of extortion (Bhatta),” he said.
Hafiz Naeem recalled that the militants and workers of MQM were trained by the Indian spy agency, RAW and they also used to torture to death anyone who opposed them through drilling their bodies saying that no one could forget ‘Khajji Ground’ in Golimar area which was used as torture cell. “The MQM killers also used to play football with heads of their victims,” he said.
The JI leader said there were no differences between Shias and Sunnis rather it were Black Water agents who killed personalities from both the sides to fan sectarianism. “They might be agents of Black Waters,” he said.
He claimed that Prof Sibt-e-Jaafar and Prof Shakil, the two educationists were also murdered by MQM and gave the murders sectarian colour. “The nation and people of Karachi now want action against elements which played havoc with peace of Karachi,” he said.
He complained that instead of taking decisive action against miscreants in Karachi, the PML-N and PPP leadership was deceiving the nation by doing politics of reconciliation with MQM.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman also regretted the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visited family of MQM worker who was allegedly killed in police custody and never took pain to visit families of 259 victims of Baldia Town factory and heirs of Professor Sibt-e-Jaafar and Professor Shakil.
He told newsmen that majority of target killers belonging to MQM were given jobs in departments like Water Board, KMC and other offices. He alleged that Senator Babar Ghauri was heading ‘Qabza Mafia’ and was giving share to the leadership.
