Robbers injure shopkeeper in Batapur

LAHORE :Nine bikes and a car were stolen in various parts of the city on Thursday. Bikes were lifted from the areas of Islampura, Misri Shah, Tibbi City, Shahdara, Nawab Town, Johar Town, Baghbanpura, North Cantt and South Cantt. A car was stolen from the area of Sattukatla. 

Robbers injured a shopkeeper in the Batapur area and looted cash Rs 85,000 and cell phones. Robbers took away Rs 50,000 from the medical store of Adeeb in Kot Lakhpat, Rs 50,000 from the shop of Amir in Lytton Road, Rs 120,000 from Mahmood in Factory Area, Rs 95,000 from Javed in Liaqatabad, Rs 94,000 from Ishtiaq in Harbanspura, Rs 50,000 from Ahmad in Sundar, Rs 50,000 from Mazhar in South Cantt, Rs 70,000 from Iqbal in Old Anarkali and Rs 70,000 and cell phones from Haneef in Baghbanpura.

Boy killed: A 10-year-old boy was killed by a train in the Naseerabad area on Thursday. According to reports, the victim, identified as Mustafa, was playing on rail tracks near 7-Up Phattak, when he came under the wheels of a train, resulting into his instant death.

Security: The Acting DIG Operations held a meeting with Shia ulema in connection with security arrangements during Muharram ul Haram.  He assured them that the Lahore police would make foolproof security arrangements during the holy month. He said that heavy contingents of police would be deployed at sensitive majalis and imambargahs and a special control room would be established to monitor the majalis and processions.

Jail visit: The Deputy Inspector General Prisons Lahore region paid a surprise visit to Central Jail Kot Lakhpat and Camp Jail Ichhara on Thursday. He heard complaints from prisoners’ families and issued directions in this regard.
