LAHORE: City’s traffic went to a snail’s pace after moderate rain hit the provincial capital here Tuesday while Met office predicted more rain in the next 24 hours.
The rain which started in the morning continued until noon changed majority of the city roads in water ponds. However, rainwater was drained out from most of the areas till evening. Following the rainwater’s presence on the roads, traffic became slow causing inconvenience to the citizens.
Met officials said weak seasonal low lies over north Balochistan while strong monsoon currents are likely to penetrate in southern parts of the country and moderate currents in upper parts and Kashmir from Tuesday (night) to Friday.
Met office predicted that rain-thunderstorm is expected at isolated places in Hazara, Malakand, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Mirpurkhas divisions, Islamabad and Kashmir in the next 24 hours while hot and humid weather is expected elsewhere in the country.
Rainfall was also recorded in several cities, including Murree, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sargodha, Islamabad, Mianwali, Rawalpindi, Noorpur Thal, Sialkot, Pattan, Lower Dir, Balakot, Malam Jabba and Saidu Sharif.
