LAHORE
A WEEKLONG training programme “Training of Trainers in Animal Production and Feedlot Cattle Farming”, held at the Department of Meat Science and Technology of University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) in collaboration with the Agribusiness Support Fund and USAID, concluded on Friday.
Over 30 practitioners from public and private organisations from across the four provinces of Pakistan participated in the workshop. Dr Michael Bradfield, Director of the Agricultural Business, South Africa, and Dr Muhammad Hayat Jaspal, Officer In-Charge of the Department of Meat Science and Technology, UVAS, were the resource persons of the workshop.
UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha chaired the concluding ceremony of the training workshop and distributed certificates among participants.
Speaking on the occasion, he said ensuring availability of quality meat to consumers was a challenge and the government had taken many initiatives to meet this challenge so that consumers could have an access to the quality and hygienic meat. He further said with the increasing demand for export of meat/beef, the demand for quality meat was also increasing in the local market, therefore the meat industry people had realised its importance and were improving their knowledge and skills through these trainings to meet the challenges.
