26 cases referred to drug court
LAHORE :The 169th meeting of Primary and Secondary Health Punjab’s Provincial Quality Control Board (PQCB) was held in which 65 cases of sub-standard/unregistered medicine were discussed. Permission of prosecution was granted in 26 cases, and these cases were referred to the drug court.
According to a handout, the meeting issued warning in 11 cases while 20 cases were adjourned. PQCB dropped five cases while inspection of good manufacturing practices was directed in three cases.
Primary and Secondary Health Department Drug Regime Additional Secretary Muhammad Sohail informed that 26 cases which were referred to the drug court were related to 15 pharmaceutical units. These pharmaceutical units included Qamar Cotton Industries, Okara, Venis Pharma, Lahore, Medicure Lab, Karachi, Seagull Surgical Industries, Jhang, Drug Pharma, Sheikhupura Road, Lahore, Pharmaceutics International, Karachi, Raka Poshi Pharmaceutical, Peshawar, British Pharmaceutical, Lahore, Ali Industries, Lahore, Mega Pharmaceutical, Lahore, Medisearch Pharma, Manga Road, Lahore, Munawar Pharma, Ferozepur Road, Lahore, PDH Pharma, Ferozepur Road, Lahore, Geofman Pharmaceutical, Karachi and M/s. Ameer Pharma, Lahore.
ITU registration: Information Technology University (ITU), Punjab has opened the attendee registration drive for the second chapter of TEDxITU being held on 16th of September. The event supported by Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) and Inbox Technologies will be held under the theme ‘Afraad Ke Hathon Main Hai’. TEDx events are independently organised multidisciplinary conferences licenced under TED. To register for the TEDxITU, participants need to sign up online. The deadline for registration is 2nd of September, 2017, after which no entries will be entertained.

Avoid overeating: Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) and Lahore General Hospital (LGH) Principal Prof Dr Ghiasun Nabi Tayyab has said people should avoid overeating and unhygienic food during Eid days.
Addressing the medical students on the topic “Eid and our Responsibilities”, the principal said actual philosophy of Eidul Azha is to distribute maximum meat among the dear and near ones and those who cannot afford it. Similarly, we should ensure proper cleanliness around us, he said.
Prof Ghiasun Nabi advised women to cook food with light ‘masalah’ and properly made which could be easily digested. He said overeating is dangerous for diabetic, blood-pressure and heart patients. He asked the students to observe Eid festival carefully and inculcate these teachings in their education and social practice.
