LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said the Sharif brothers failed to establish a single cancer hospital of world standard during their 30-year rule.

That is why they were forced to send Kulsoom Nawaz to London for treatment, he added.

He said this while addressing the party workers at a function, held in connection with launching the PTI candidate, Dr Yasmeen Rashid’s election campaign for NA-120 bye-elections, and later on talking to the media at Chairman’s Secretariat, on Saturday.

Imran expressed his resolve to contest NA-120 by-polls against PML-N till the last ball to defeat the forces of corruption. “It is up to the voters of NA-120 to decide if they wanted to choose the corrupt, who plundered the country, or those who stood against corruption,” he added.

He said former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was disqualified because he lied to the Supreme Court about his assets. He (Nawaz) should have been jailed for such a crime since he committed plunder of the public exchequer to the tune of billions of rupees, thus depriving the poor masses of their basic rights, Imran said.

The PTI chief said Nawaz Sharif not only lied to the court but also provided fake documents to evade punishment. Nawaz Sharif should have resigned during the investigations in accordance with the norms of democracy and justice, but he adamantly clung to the office of PM, disregarding the demands of justice, decency and democracy, he added.

Imran also castigated Nawaz for using offensive language against the Supreme Court, saying if the leader of a large party disobeyed the SC judgments, then it would encourage others to do so.

“It is a big test for the voters of NA-120 whether they elect those who committed corruption or those who are clean,” Imran said.

He asked the PTI workers to tell the voters that if they voted in favour of the PML-N, it would tantamount to supporting corruption. He stressed that NA-120 bye-election was vitally important to decide the course of the war against corruption and for realisation of basic rights of the people from the control of corrupt ruling elite.

Other PTI leaders including Jahangir Khan Tareen, PTI candidate for NA-120 bye elections Dr Yasmeen Rashid, Shafqat Mahmood, Abdul Aleem Khan, Ijaz Chaudhry, Ch Muhammad Sarwar, Samsam Bukhari, Mian Aslam Iqbal, Firdous Ashiq Awan, Usman Dar, Dr Shahid Siddiq, Ajasam Sharif, Zubair Niazi, Shaukat Bhatti, Suhail Zafar Cheema etc. were also present on the occasion.
