The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) seized a huge quantity of expired medicines during a raid in the medicine market of the city on Friday.
The spokesman for the agency said action was taken on a complaint of provincial drug inspector Zakir Samu that one Abdul Ghaffar was involved in buying, selling, distributing and repackaging unregistered drug products.
Under the supervision of Assistant Director Khalid Jamil, accompanied by the drug inspector, an FIA team conducted a raid on R.G. Medicos Shop (No.G-60) and seized a huge quantity of medicines.
An examination of drugs showed that the Ghaffar was involved in selling expired medicines by altering the date of expiry, batch number and the name of the hospital to which the medicines were supposed to be sent. Incriminating material was also seized during the raid.
An FIR under sections 23 and 27, read with Section 30 of the Drug Act 1976, was being registered against the suspect, said the spokesman.
