Third cub dies this year in Lahore zoo
LAHORE: A five-month old female lion cub died of gastrointestinal disease in Lahore Zoo here on Tuesday. Angellina, the cub, was suffering from gastrointestinal disease for the past several days.
She was the third loin cub who died in Lahore Zoo in a sequence during this year. However, Angellina’s brother Cris who was also suffering from gastrointestinal disease is safe.
Director Lahore Zoo Hassan Ali Sukhera while talking to the media announced establishment of a new hospital having latest facilities for treatment of animals. He said the new hospital would have pathological, hematological and ICU facilities for treatment of animals.
He said the Zoo administration was also considering to develop a new blood line of lions and, for this purpose, new African lions would be purchased. He maintained that immunity in the present breed of lions had reduced and Zoo administration was also going to exchange male lions with Lahore Safari Park.
