Nawaz on roads against state institutions: KP CM

NOWSHERA: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Friday said those who used to taunt the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) about pursuing the politics of sit-ins were now on roads.

He said this in a reference to caravan of deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif who is going to his Raiwind residence in Lahore on the Grand Trunk (GT) Road from Islamabad.

Speaking at a public meeting in Misri Banda here, he believed that the ousted prime minister had embarked on the container against state institutions.

He accused the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) of plundering the national wealth, promoting corruption and damaging the state institutions. “They are taking turns,” said the chief minister.

Pervez Khattak alleged the ruling elite strengthened themselves and weakened institutions. He said PTI chief Imran Khan had exposed the corruption of the ruling elite and took them to court. The chief minister hoped accountability courts would start hearing corruption cases against the Sharif family and would hold them accountable. “We would not rest until every embezzled penny is recovered,” he added.

Pervez Khattak accused Nawaz Sharif of being arrogant. This arrogance, chief minister said, had brought him on the roads.  He accused the former prime minister of deceiving the people and doing nothing for them after coming into power.

“Nawaz Sharif’s arrogance has cost him dearly,” he claimed.

Criticising the PPP and Awami National Party (ANP), the chief minister said jobs in the public sector departments were on sale in the previous coalition government of these two parties in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Pervez Khattak said the PTI-led government eliminated corruption and streamlined the decades old faulty system. He said his government revamped the old thana and patwar cultures and made the state institutions accountable to the people.

He said the PTI-led provincial government introduced even educational system and restored the parents confidence in the state-run schools. “Now parents are getting their children enrolled at the government schools,” he claimed.

The chief minister said the provincial government had recruited 8,000 doctors and nurses to overcome the shortage of health staff in the public sector hospitals. He said the Police Department had been depoliticised and empowered. He said that Sehat Insaf Cards were issued to the poor and destitute and its network would be expanded in the coming days. He said the PTI-led provincial government had done record legislation and made the government officials real public servant.
