ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Sunday said that he knew well what would happen to him.

He vowed that he would soon unveil the conspiracy behind the case that led to his disqualification. “The people have discarded the verdict as they stand by me for the sake of progress and development of the country.”

Nawaz Sharif said this while talking to delegations of business and trade community of the area here on Sunday at the Punjab House where he spent the second hectic day in meetings with the people belonging to cross-section of the society.

The delegations pledged their unflinching support to the former prime minister and assured him that they would wait for his call for any step to establish the supremacy of the will of the people.

The former premier was in a defiant mood and made it clear that he wouldn’t be a party to any clash among the institutions but the civilian authority had to be acknowledged. “The survival of the country depends on perpetuation of democracy. If the democratic order is harmed, none could guarantee the security of this great country which is very dear to me,” he said and added, “The people alone have the right to pose and depose their rulers. Their authority has to be respected. No other method in this regard would be acceptable to the masses.”

He said that he was fully aware of the designs of evil mongers about him. “I am surprised that the so-called elite that had plundered billions of the national exchequer are roaming scot-free. Those who wrecked the Constitution are enjoying themselves freedom with the looted money. Who will shackle them?” the former prime minister posed the question.

“My family has been targeted under the pretext of PanamaLeaks and there was no mention of my name. The case was fabricated that I received money from my son and disqualified on account of not receiving money from my other son. The legal fraternity is terming it a mockery of justice. But to whom they want to please by doing it? The nation knows the malevolent designs,” he added.

Nawaz Sharif said that he had already made the people known that it was an exploitation of the people’s representatives but not accountability by any standard. “I am fully prepared to face any consequences but shall not bow before the evil,” he said and added that he was a believer in the rule of law and Constitution and for the reason he implemented the judgment of the court despite serious reservations about it.

The business community of the twin cities assured their full support to the former premier. They chanted slogans for expression of their solidarity with Nawaz Sharif during the course of the meeting and formally reposed their full confidence in the leadership of Nawaz Sharif.

The former prime minister said that being a believer of the rule of law, he did not support any confrontation among the institutions.

Meanwhile, PML-N leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan also called on Nawaz Sharif and discussed with him prevailing political situation in the country.  Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Ms Marriyum Aurangzeb, spokesman for the ruling Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Senator Dr Syed Asif Saeed Kirmani also called on former premier in the Punjab House. President PML-N (Youth) Captain (R) Muhammad Safdar also reached Islamabad after leading a huge solidarity rally for Nawaz Sharif in Hazara on Saturday. He would attend the National Assembly session and make statement about the ensuing developments in the house.
