Rs13bn for Thar coalfields water project approved: PA told
KARACHI: The federal government has approved a Rs12.742 billion water supply project to ease coal extraction for the Thar coalfield project being built to increase electricity generation in the province’s desert district.
This information was shared with lawmakers by Sindh Parliamentary Affairs Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro while responding to written and verbal queries in the question-hour related to Sindh government’s Energy Department in Monday’s assembly session.
He said the executive committee of the National Economic Council approved the development project to construct a channel connecting the water source to the Thar coalfield.
The provincial minister said that earlier the Provincial Development Working Party and Central Development Working Party had approved a similar project.
