Three of a family shot dead in Mohmand Agency

GHALLANAI: Three members of a family were killed when unidentified persons opened fire on them at their house at Haleemzai tehsil in Mohmand Agency on Thursday night, official sources said.

They said one Malik Sadiq Shah along with his family members was asleep at his home in Shanikhel area in Haleemzai tehsil when unidentified gunmen fired at them, killing him, his wife and son on the spot.

The deceased were identified as Sadiq Shah, his wife, and son Yaseen. The attackers managed to flee the scene. Motive behind the incident could not be ascertained.Following the incident, the security forces cordoned off the area and started search operation.

The the security forces imposed curfew in Ghallanai, Mian Mandi, Chanda and Ghazi Baig bazaars from 11am to 6 pm on Friday. Bajaur-Peshawar road remained closed to traffic during the operation. It is worth mentioning here that members of a proscribed militant organisation had shot dead the deceased’s brother Malik Wilayat Shah five years back.
