Public divided over Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification

Rawalpindi: There was calm atmosphere everywhere in city till the filing of this report while police parties continued roaming all around ordering some banks and shops in Raja Bazaar, Trunk Bazaar and Barra Bazaar to shut down immediately after Supreme Court’s decision of disqualifying Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Friday.

The general public and lawyers gave mixed reaction while majority of people strongly appreciated decision by the Supreme Court regarding Panama issue over disqualification of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif from the office of prime minister.

The PTI, PPP, JI and leaders of other parties and workers distributed sweets among each other and started celebrations after Supreme Court decision raised full throated slogans in favour of apex court. The PML-N leaders and supporters were in sad situation all around.

Majority of public service vehicles (PSV) went off the roads after Supreme Court decision to avoid any kind of bad situation.

Senior lawyer, Syed Ajmal Hussain Shah, has strongly appreciated Supreme Court decision said that it was historical decision of apex court. “Nation will recall this decision throughout life,” he said. He said that Supreme Court given this decision in the light of facts and figures rather liking or disliking.

District Bar Association (DBA) former President Raja Ahsen Mehmood Satti said that I am not satisfied with this decision. He said that is was a partial decision of Supreme Court rather impartial.

Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal, a social worker strongly appreciated this decision of Supreme Court saying it was a brave decision. He also appreciated Joint Investigation Team (JIT) which worked with bravery. “All should accept this decision to strong democracy in the country,” he appealed.

Dr. Muhammad Waqar said that judges of Supreme Court have given a historical decision on Panama issue. Judges have not taken any pressure in this issue, he said. He said that all parties should accept Supreme Court decision.

It is fact that PML-N Nawaz Sharif did a lot for the development of this country but Supreme Court has given this decision in light of facts and figures, he said.

Bashir Ahmed Shaikh has strongly appreciated Supreme Court decision and said that apex court should trap other corrupt people in the country. This accountability should continue in every field of life otherwise it will create an unrest situation, he warned. The apex court has also ordered to file references in NAB against other family members of Sharif family including Ishaq Dar. “NAB should investigate the matter with truth and merit,” he said.

Robina Rehan, a lady said that court has given enough time to prove Sharif family innocent but unfortunately they failed to do so.
