Quality education for children highlighted

LAHORE: Punjab School Education Secretary Dr Allah Bakhsh Malik has said that early childhood education gives self-confidence to the budding minds as high quality education in early life gives children the best start. 

He said this at the two-day interactive workshop “Early Childhood Experiential Learning” in collaboration with Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) and UNICEF held at Quaid-e-Azam Academy for Education Department (QAED).

The workshop was aimed to improve knowledge of school owners, head teachers, teachers and communities about early childhood education (ECE) and to share lessons learnt in ECE project. Tariq Mahmood, PEF MD, Angela Kearney,  UNICEF country representative, Douglas G Higgins, chief of field office, UNICEF, Rubina Nadeem, educational specialist, UNICEF, PEF head teachers, teachers, caregivers, monitoring staff and master trainers and other staff attended the workshop.

Angela Kearney reiterated the commitment to work in collaboration with relevant departments to ensure achievement of Sustainable Development Goals by ensuring equal access to quality early childhood development. 

Tariq Mahmood said the children who took part in quality ECE were likely to be confident and curious about the world around them, and this would help them do better than others. 

UET:  Vice Chancellor UET Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid on Friday inaugurated 2-day event “Open Day" at the university here on Friday.

According to a press release the event is aimed to provide best counseling to prospective students, provide information to about more than 22 undergraduate programs under seven differentiate faculties at UET main and satellite campuses.
