The rupee lost some ground against the dollar on Thursday due to increase in dollar demand, dealers said. The rupee lost five paisas to close at 105. 39 against the dollar against the previous closing of 105.34 in the interbank foreign exchange market. The rupee showed firm trend against the greenback owing to dollar buying by some importers.
