RCB conducts anti-encroachment drive in Tench Bhatta and Dheri

On the directives of the Chief Executive Officer, Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB), the enforcement branch carried out a grand operation against encroachments in certain parts of the cantonment on Tuesday.
According to information provided by the official spokesman, RCB, Secretary, Qaisar Mahmood, on the complaints of the citizens, the enforcement branch headed by Deputy Executive Officer, Rana Rameez, superintendent, Hassan Jan assigned its staff to carry out an effective operation in the parts of Tench Bhatta, Dhamial and Chungi No.22.
On their directions, the enforcement staff along with police force targeted cart pushers and stall holders who had established their businesses illegally, creating encroachments and causing traffic jams besides hardships for the pedestrians.
The enforcement staff loaded goods and other items of the encroachers in 7 trucks which were later on shifted to the RCB store section. The confiscated goods and items including carts and stalls were broken at the Store of RCB to ensure that the respective owners should not take back their goods to re-establish their business in the bazaars.
The encroachers and shopkeepers as well as small traders who tried to resist the operation were dealt by police force and warned not to interfere in the matter and let the enforcement staff carry out their job without any hindrance. Some of the cart pushers and stall holders were also arrested by the police and action was taken against them including imposition of fines worth thousands of rupees.
During the operation, the superintendent of RCB, Hassan Jan, who is also chief of the enforcement cell warned the people including shopkeepers and small traders not to allow establishment of business outside their shops which results in encroachments. Due to hub of encroachers which remain in these localities, problem of traffic jams was witnessed throughout the day which was cleared by enforcement staff through grand operation.
Hassan Jan while talking to this correspondent said that the RCB carries out similar type of operations on daily basis in every part of the RCB limits. “The concerned staff including inspectors and supervisors have been directed to keep strict vigilance on the people who try to establish their business on roadsides and outside the shops in order to discourage the re-emergence of encroachments,” he added.
