Rawalpindi: The people living in low-lying areas hoped that the ongoing monsoon season would end on positive note for them as they always live with fear of sudden flood-like situation during every rainfall in the twin cities.
"The local administration has not done tremendous work but as far as the early warning system is concerned I can say that it has put in its best efforts to ensure the people receive timely warning in case of flood," said Maqsood Ellahi, a resident of New Katarian.
He said the Katarian Bridge is the first in Rawalpindi that receives water coming from Islamabad so the flood water starts damaging the property from this point, adding "We always live in fear during the monsoon season but it seems there is no other choice except to face the situation."
It is pertinent to mention here that the local administration has installed a modern flood alarm system that can inform people one hour before the deluge water bursts the banks of the Nullah Leh.
Humayun Malik, a resident of Dhoke Najju, said though the chairmen and the councillors have no financial resources but somehow they have played their role in removing garbage and other material like tree branches from the Nullah Leh well before start of the monsoon season.
