Panama case verdict within a day or two: Khursheed

SUKKUR: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah has said that the Supreme Court would soon announce its decision in the Panama case. He hoped that the verdict would be announced by the apex court on Monday or Tuesday. He asked the PTI leaders to wait for the SC verdict

Khursheed Shah was talking to the media here on Sunday. He said now it was up to Nawaz Sharif to either resign or not. He further said that he would not withdraw the demand of Nawaz’s resignation because it was not only his demand but the demand of the people of Pakistan. 

The PPP leader said that Nawaz would be disqualified soon, adding that Imran Khan would follow him because he was facing similar charges.  The PPP leader said that the Supreme Court would soon announce its decision, adding that the Supreme Court would not disappoint the nation. He said that two respected judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan had already announced disqualification of Nawaz Sharif in the Panama Leaks case. He hoped that the verdict would be announced by the apex court on Monday or Tuesday.

Khursheed said that Nawaz Sharif was given a lot of chances by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to present the money trail, but Nawaz failed to present the trail.  He said that the PPP would not resume talks with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) before the Supreme Court’s verdict was announced. He also advised the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) to do the same.

While speaking about Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, he said that it was not clear why he [Chaudhry Nisar] had postponed his press conference, but according to media reports he had postponed it due to severe backache. Shah questioned: “What would Nisar announce in his press conference?” Answering his own question, he concluded that Nisar could not update on the situation in the press conference.
