ISLAMABAD: The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders and PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday traded serious allegations, with the former saying that the Sharif family’s offshore companies were ‘Haram’ while Imran Khan’s companies were ‘Halal”.

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Sunday PTI chief Imran Khan had failed to provide his money trail and confessed that he had no record of his income as a cricketer.

In a statement, she said under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan will continue making strides towards progress and prosperity. She vehemently quashed the speculations that the PML-N was considering some alternative names for premiership in case of disqualification of the prime minister.

She said those speculating in this regard and spreading rumors in the media will be proven wrong.

Later, in an interview, Marriyum Aurangzeb said the prime minister by presenting himself for accountability in spite of his constitutional immunity had written a new history. “Now every person, especially the public office holders, will have to pass through the process of accountability.”

PML-N leader Daniyal Aziz on Sunday said the people could not be misled anymore, as they were aware of the ones who believed in accountability and the others who had been escaping from the courts of law.

Addressing a press conference here, he said despite constitutional immunity, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had taken a historical step by presenting three generations of his family for accountability.

He said the PTI chief Imran Khan had been continuously raising hue and cry and levelling baseless allegations against the prime minister but he could not present a single proof against him.

The PML-N leader said neither in the JIT report, nor during the hearing of the Panama Papers case by the Supreme Court (SC), even a single allegation of corruption or misuse of authority was proved against the prime minister.

Imran Khan who, he alleged, was in the habit of shouting and abusing others had distorted the facts about his own earning sources. He advised Imran Khan to stop doing politics of allegations and using abusive language against respectable politicians.

Daniyal Aziz said that the PTI chief was in fact afraid of the PML-N’s growing popularity. The government, led by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, had made considerable progress in all the fields and Imran Khan could not stop it by telling lies. He expressed the confidence that Nawaz Sharif would emerge unscathed from the Panama Papers case.

He strongly condemned the incident of misbehavior with journalists at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and assured that an inquiry would be conducted against those involved in it.

Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had already taken notice of the incident and sought a report from the FIA high-ups.PML-N leader Muhammad Talal Chaudhry said PTI Chairman Imran Khan had admitted in the Supreme Court of having no money trail of the purchase and later sale of his London apartment.

Talking to a private TV channel on Sunday after the press conference of Imran Khan, Talal Chaudhry said Imran wants everyone to submit details of their assets but backs out when it comes to him. He gives a trail of lies [instead of money] when his financial records are sought, he said. He spoke about the source of money for Imran’s Bani Gala estate saying it was unusual and unbelievable that a woman funds her former husband after their separation.Imran is the only man on whom his former wife spends billions, he said.
