MANSEHRA: Angry people blocked the Karakoram Highway (KKH) for all sorts of traffic in a protest against death of a minor child at the hands of a quack late on Friday night.

Parents of one Abdul Ghani, 2, had taken him to Qazi Clinic at Ghazikot where an alleged quack administered him with an injection, which left him unconscious.

The affected child was taken to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

The enraged family members and people of the Ghazikot area blocked the KKH for more than two hours, demanding the registration of an FIR against Qamar Hayyat, who managed to flee after the incident.

The blockade of road caused huge traffic jam even after road was reopened following successful talks of protesters with the district police officials.

The protesters were demanding immediate arrest of the quack, seeking severe punishment for him.

The family members told reporters that the child was suffering from light cough and was taken to the clinic but there he was given a wrong injection, which caused his death within minutes.

Mohammad Ayaz, the assistant superintendent of police, told reporters that the FIR had been lodged against the quack.

He said the police would arrest the quack without any delay as they could not allow anybody to play with lives of people.
