Performance to help win next elections, predicts KP CM

NOWSHERA: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said on Saturday that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) would not form an alliance with any political party in the next general elections.

Speaking at two separate public meetings in Behram Killay and Ziarat Kaka Sahib here, he said that PTI did not need other parties’ help to win the elections.

“We will win the elections on the basis of the performance of PTI-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” he added. Activists of Awami National Party and Pakistan People’s Party announced joining the PTI on the occasion.

Pervez Khattak said that the performance of the PTI-led government had unnerved the opposition parties and they were trying to form an alliance against it. He said that the opposition parties cannot compete with the PTI.

“PTI would defeat all of them,” he claimed.

He said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had introduced reforms and strengthened the state institutions.

He said that change can be seen in education, health, police and revenue departments. “We made an end to the political interference in the affairs of line departments,” he maintained.

He added that the fight against corruption had entered a decisive stage, adding across-the-board accountability was the need of the hour.

The chief minister said that ‘corrupt’ rulers had politicised the state institutions. Honest and dedicated leadership was needed to put the country on the right track and made an end to corruption in government departments, he added.

He asked the federal government to approve funds for improving the gridstations and power supply system in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Pervez Khattak said that the province produced 3,500 megawatts electricity and its total consumption stood at 2,500 megawatts. He claimed that the province was denied its due share in the total power generation.

He said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has vast potential for producing cheap hydel power but lamented that the federal government and Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) did not pay any attention to utilise these resources.

The PTI-led provincial government had launched its own power projects and would be able to produce 4,000 megawatts electricity, he added.

He said that his government had singed billion of rupees uplift projects with China under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He said that these projects would generate huge revenue for the province.

The chief minister added that the government had signed an agreement with the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) for building two new cities and installing of a Cement Plant in the province.

He hoped that these projects would also help boost provincial economy.
