KARACHI: Pakistan’s young swimmers Bismah Khan and Kawas Behram Agha begin their journey in the Commonwealth Youth Games in Nassau, The Bahamas, on Wednesday (today).
As per schedule provided by Pakistan contingent official Asif Orakzai, Bismah will feature on Wednesday in 50m freestyle heat, while Kawas will flex his muscles in 50m butterfly.
Asif said that it was a big event and he was confident his swimmers would put in their best. “I hope they will produce their personal best timings,” Asif said.
Bismah is the younger sister of Olympian Kiran Khan.
Kawas, also a Canadian national, is the son of a business tycoon who owns a major hotel in Karachi.
A ten-member Pakistan contingent was to take part in the competitions but the boxers and the tennis players were denied US transit visas which are necessary for reaching Nassau.
Three boxers and two tennis players were set to feature in the competitions.
Three officials are with the two swimmers in The Bahamas.
Acting Director General of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Khial Zad Gul and Saba Shamim Akhtar are also accompanying the swimmers.
