JIT wants probe by NAB distrusted by SC: ex-AG
ISLAMABAD: Speaking in Geo News programme, Aapas ki Baat, former attorney-general Irfan Qadir said that the Supreme Court, having distrusted the NAB, formed the JIT, but the JIT says prime minister’s case should go to the NAB. JIT was formed because institutions were not working. He said that the PML-N was ready to accept a judicial commission, but the PTI had rejected it. He contended that the JIT had not been formed according to any law, adding it was about commission but it ended up in the JIT. He lamented that lawyers hesitated in taking up law points lest they should annoy the apex court. Now the matter would go to institutions against who the Supreme Court had expressed its distrust, he added.
Renowned lawyer Asma Jahangir said hype was created in such a strange manner to portray as if the JIT were the Supreme Court. She said JIT report’s volume 10 had been kept secret, and asked, “had anybody killed 100 people in a suicide attack.” Nothing will come out it (volume 10) too, she added.
