PkMAP stands by Nawaz: Achakzai
QUETTA: Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Chairman Mehmood Khan Achakzai on Thursday said they would not make any compromise on democratic values and reiterated his party’s support to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
He said that the people opposing Nawaz Sharif should have a reasonable approach, otherwise people would come on the streets as had happened in Turkey.
“We will never compromise on our democratic values,” said Achakzai and added that the PkMAP was supporting the prime minister due to their commitment towards democracy.Addressing a press conference, he said he would never support the anti-state forces. “We are and will always be against martial law,” Achakzai said, adding that they would not allow anyone uprooting democracy from the country.
He said corruption was the country’s most dangerous disease but made it clear that targeting a single person on the basis of corruption was a political move.Achakzai said investigation must also be held against those who dismissed and abrogated the Constitution and questioned why no probe was carried out against those who killed dozens of people on May 12, 2007 during the Musharraf regime.
The PkMAP leader said, “We would have to consider Afghanistan an independent country if we want peace there,” and added that the security situation in Pakistan would improve if there was an improvement in Afghanistan. He was of the opinion that the issues between Saudi Arabia and Iran would affect Pakistan’s stability.
