CDA conducts anti-encroachment drive along IJ Principal Road
Islamabad: The Enforcement Wing of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Friday carried out a major operation along the IJ Principal Road to clear right of way of the main road from encroachments.
During the operation, the teams of Enforcement Directorate removed several fixed and movable encroachments from Rawalpindi side right of way of IJ Principal Road opposite Sector I-12. During this operation, more than 50 damaged vehicles and seven containers removed from Estate land and retrieved from the illegal occupants while four illegal shops, six sheds and one storeroom demolished and got vacated estate land.
"After this operation, 80 per cent estate land retrieved from illegal occupants and operation will remain continue till complete retrieval of estate land from illegal occupants. Retrieved estate land levelled with tractors and blades for tree plantation, "a spokesman of CDA said.
Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman, Capital Development Authority (CDA), has directed the Enforcement Directorate to gear up the anti-encroachment drive in the city. Operations should be carried out all over the city without any discrimination.
Encroachments in all types particularly along the roads not only cause hindrance to general public but also damaging the beauty of the city. Therefore, strict action be ensured and a vigilant monitoring system be devised to completely curb the menace of encroachments from the city.
Acting upon the directions of the Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman, CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz, Enforcement Directorate of CDA has continued gigantic operation second day at different areas along the IJP road.
The officials of the Enforcement Directorate, Police, heavy machinery, vehicles of Environment and other formations participated in the operation. Anti encroachment drive carried out after served final notices to illegal occupants of estate land to vacate voluntarily.
During the operation, two wood tall, two construction material depot, two fruit stalls, twenty shanty houses, three cabins, seven auto workshops and a store illegally constructed for old vehicles and spare parts was demolished with the help of heavy machinery. The operation was conducted in the presence of concerned Magistrate, heavy contingent of police and participated by staff of environment and other formations of the authority.
