FDE plans to change name of FG schools, colleges
ISLAMABAD: Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has once again planned to change the names of federal government model schools, colleges of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).According to sources in the FDE here on Tuesday the decision was being taken after six years to remove confusion between management and teaching affairs.Six years ago, around 399 schools, colleges of the federal capital had been named as ‘model schools and colleges’ by the previous government.
Now FDE would remove the word ‘model’ from the names of its schools and colleges and they would only be designated as federal government schools and colleges.Due to this confusion, staff also faced problems in preparation of documents and communication among various wings.
The Directorate of FG Schools in FDE has prepared a summary in this regard which would be sent to Ministry of Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) for approval.Declaring half of the schools and colleges as models while calling others simply as federal government schools and colleges persistently created problems about identity of these institutions. The students had also to face difficulties in search of examination centres established by the Federal Board and Allama Iqbal Open University in these educational institutions.
