Rally in Larkana against blasphemous sketches

SUKKUR: Different religious organizations, including the Jamaat-e-Islami, the JUI-F, the JUP, the Pakistan Sunni Tehreek and the Shia Ulema Council, on Friday took out a joint protest rally under the banner of Tehreek Tahafuz-e-Namoos-e-Risalat against the publication of blasphemous materials in a French magazine.
The rally marched through different areas of the city and reached the Jinnah Bagh Chowk where it turned into a mammoth demonstration.
Activists of different organizations carried their party flags and demanded of the government to end diplomatic ties with France. Speaking on the occasion, JI Amir of Larkana, Kashif Saeed Shaikh, and other speakers condemned the printing of the sacrilegious material by the French magazine, Charlie Hebdo, and its reproduction in other Western newspapers and magazines.
They termed it an attempt to incite violence, create discord and widen misunderstandings among different civilizations.They said that the publication of the blasphemous material had hurt the sentiments of hundreds of millions of Muslims across the world.
They said that it was an inhuman act to play with the sentiments of other religions on the pretext of freedom of speech. They said it was a well-organized conspiracy against Islam. The leaders of the religious parties said that US, Britain, Israel and France were responsible for destroying peace of the entire world.
