LAHORE: Cold continental air prevails over most parts of the country resulting in a very cold and partly cloudy weather with isolated frost and mist in the provincial capital on today (Saturday).
The Met Office, in a weather Friday said yesterday’s trough of the westerly wave, lying over western parts of Iran has squeezed and moved South-eastwards and lied over south-eastern parts of the country. It predicted that during the next 72 hours widespread thunderstorm/rain with light to heavy snowfall over the hills associated with gusty winds would occur over FATA, Northern KPK, northern Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. It said isolated to scattered thunderstorm/rain with snowfall over the hills along with strong winds would come about over southern Punjab, northern Balochistan and upper Sindh.
Minimum temperature in provincial metropolis was recorded at 4 C while maximum was 20C. The lowest minimum temperature in the country was recorded at Parachinar where it was -11 C while the highest maximum was 29.5 C at Mithi.
