Today last day to apply for overseas PhD scholarships
Islamabad: Today (Friday) is the last day to apply online for the fully-funded PhD scholarships offered by the Higher Education Commission in the technologically advanced countries.
According to Muhammad Zeeshan Saleem, the relevant project director at the HEC, the scholarships will be awarded to outstanding Pakistani and Azad Jammu and Kashmir students for PhD programmes in agriculture, engineering and technology, management sciences and business education, medical sciences, physical sciences and social sciences.
The candidates are required to have MS or MPhil degrees, or the minimum 18 years of relevant education and that they have to secure the minimum 50 per cent or above marks in the HEC aptitude test to qualify for the scholarship to be awarded on merit.
The candidates shortlisted on the basis of their academic record and aptitude test score will be called for interview by the relevant country’s team for the award of scholarship. The awardee will be bound by a written agreement signed with the HEC to serve Pakistan, preferably in an institution of higher education, for a minimum of five years after the completion of studies.
The candidates can apply for scholarships by visiting the HEC website. Meanwhile, some students living in remote areas with no Internet facility have demanded extension in the last date to apply for scholarships due to Eid holidays.
