Emergency wards flooded with stomach patients in Lahore on Eid
LAHORE: Emergency wards of public hospitals witnessed great rush of patients suffering from gastroenteritis, indigestion, intoxication and traffic accidents during the first three days of Eid.
Doctors readily provided emergency treatment to the patients in emergency wards of all hospitals including Mayo Hospital, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Services Hospital, Jinnah Hospital, Shaikh Zayed Hospital, Lahore General Hospital and Shahdara Hospital, Mian Munshi Hospital, Kot Khawaja Saeed Hospital, Nawaz Sharif Hospital, Yakki Gate, Gulab Devi Hospital and other hospitals.
The doctors said most of the patients were suffering of gastroenteritis and indigestion due to overeating and unhygienic food especially from the restaurants and markets. There were a lot of patients of intoxication of excessive liquor intake during Eid days. Besides, several patients of road incidents were reported in emergency wards mainly due to rash driving and wheelie by the bikers.
Public and patients appreciated the doctors for providing readily available treatment to the patients in emergency wards as outdoor wards were closed during the Eid days. “Doctors deserve praise as they sacrificed their Eid festival to provide treatment to the patients instead of celebrating and enjoying the occasion with their families,” said an old man getting treatment at emergency ward of Mayo Hospital.
The administrations of these hospitals ensured provision of medicines and medical supplies to the patients with occasional complaints about lack of treatment and unavailability of medicines in different hospitals in the City.
The private hospitals made a most of three Eid holidays due to closure of outdoor wards in government hospitals and excessive rush of patients in emergency wards in public sector hospitals.
