13 suspects arrested
The Sindh Rangers conducted raids in different parts of the city and arrested 13 suspects, including activists of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) London faction and Lyari-based gangsters.
A spokesman for the paramilitary force said Rangers soldiers carried out a targeted raid in Gabol Town and, after a brief resistance, arrested two suspects identified as Mohammad Sunny and Shahzad.
The suspects, who were shifted to the force’s investigation headquarters, are affiliated with the MQM-London and are accused of being involved in street crimes and other heinous activities, added the spokesman.
He said that in another raid in Lyari’s Chakiwara locality, the Rangers soldiers arrested Mukesh, alias Gopiya, who was associated with the Uzair Baloch gang, adding that the suspect was accused of being involved in target killings, extortion, kidnappings for ransom and other crimes.
The spokesman said the Rangers soldiers also conducted raids in the Khokhrapar and Rizvia localities and arrested Syed Asad Jafri and Anwar, who were operating drug dens in the above-mentioned areas.
The paramilitary force confiscated the arms and ammunitions as well as narcotics found on the suspects and later handed them over to the local police, added the spokesman.
He said the Rangers soldiers conducted intelligence-based targeted raids in the Mominabad and Peerabad localities and arrested five suspects, who were later identified as Mohammad Mujahid, Mohammad Ijaz Khan, Mohammad Nasir, Akbar Zada and Mohammad Nauman.
The suspects are affiliated with the MQM-London and are accused of being involved in street crimes and other heinous activities, he added.
The spokesman said that in another raid in Lyari Town, the paramilitary force arrested Sameer Baloch, who was associated with the Uzair Baloch gang and was accused of being involved in target killings, extortion, kidnappings for ransom and other crimes.
Moreover, added the spokesman, the Rangers soldiers arrested two men, identified as Asad and Mir Bahadur, in a raid in Landhi because they were operating a drug den in the locality.
He said the paramilitary force also confiscated the weapons, narcotics and looted items found on the suspects and later handed them over to the local police.
