With Eidul Fitr just few days away, what is the most commonly asked question about the post-Ramazan festival, these days?
Yes, you’re right: how will the weather be during Eid days, especially it is really hot?
Now, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has come up with a ‘pleasant’ answer enough to double Eid celebrations of Islooites: it will rain during the two-day religious festival likely to begin on Monday (June 26).
Interestingly, the monsoon season will formally begin the next week, either on Monday or Tuesday.
A spokesman for the PMD told ‘The News’ that monsoon currently causing rainfall in central parts of India was on the way to Pakistan.
“The monsoon currents will start to penetrate in Pakistan on Monday or Tuesday and thus, increasing the likelihood of rainfall in Islamabad and Rawalpindi during Eid days,” he said.
The weatherman said thundershowers were expected at scattered places in Islamabad, upper Punjab, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and AJK during Eid holidays i.e. from Monday to Wednesday.
He also said thundershowers with isolated heavy falls and strong gusty winds were likely to occur at a number of places in Punjab, Islamabad, KP, FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and AJK from Monday to Friday and at scattered places in lower Sindh and eastern Balochistan from Wednesday to Saturday.
