Self assessment of academic programmes adopted at IST

Institute Space Technology (IST) is progressing in leaps and bounds and within short span of time has started its programs in various fields of sciences and technology. Process of imparting knowledge and research is strictly monitored according to best practices of Quality Assurance. For the purpose Self-Assessment model of quality assurance has been adopted in accordance to HEC guide lines.

Recently, Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) of IST conducted Self-Assessment of BS, MS and PhD programs to assess and improve them. PhD programme of Material science & Engineering, MS programs of Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Remote Sensing & Geo-Information Science and BS programme of Space Science were assessed during this process. The concerned departments of IST had prepared Self-Assessment Reports as per guidelines given by QEC.

Teams comprising of internal and external professionals assessed the effectiveness of programs using rubric evaluation methodology and highlighted improvement areas in the programmes. At the end, the teams presented their findings to Head of Departments and QEC to ensure effective implementation of suggested improvements areas. The whole activity provided an insight to strengths & weaknesses of programmes, thereby providing opportunity for enhancing students’ learning and quality of education at IST.
